Most houses have permanent residents, and there is a lively village website. From the cottage you can walk to All Saints church and the village pub, or feed the ducks, geese and moorhens on the pond. There is no shop in the village, and you do need a car to make the most of the area. However the Coasthopper bus runs between King's Lynn and Cromer, and is handy if you want to walk along the coast then catch the bus back to your starting point rather than retrace your steps. The nearest point to pick it up is Burnham Market. Stanhoe history has been researched and there is some fascinating information on the village website. It is on the route that pilgrims travelled to the shrine at Walsingham.
